Connie RoseLas Vegas U=U NV U=U Ambassador
Connie Rose (they/she/elle) is a nonbinary, pansexual 26-year long-term survivor of HIV who was diagnosed in 1996. They are a mother, to one beautiful human named Samantha, grandmother (MiMi) to the most amazing grandson, Amir William-Conrad (yep, after me and our grandpa), and a variety of non-human family members who Connie is sure to bore you to tears over if you ever meet! Connie said they are honored to add U=U Ambassador to their bio! They were inducted into the 2020 Leading Women’s Society in 2018, they are the current Nevada State Lead for Positive Women’s Network – USA and SERO Project. They are a year 3 graduating PWN-USA policy fellow and a 2022 SPJI graduating cohort. She has been advocating publicly since 2010 for equity access to services, and information about how to live an overall healthy and successful life for all people living with HIV, but specifically women, non-binary folx, and people who identify outside the socially constructed gender box. Connie helped co-found the Nevada HIV Modernization Coalition in 2017 with the SERO Project and Stephan Page of Reno, NV, they were successful in helping pass two bills in Nevada, SB284 and SB275. Connie along with Davina Conner-Otalor successfully petitioned the Clark County Mayor and requested a proclamation to declare January 2 U=U Day in Las Vegas, Nevada. We have successfully celebrated this day since 2021.
