Ian has held high profile leadership roles in the local government, health, housing and charitable sectors, most recently as chief executive of Terrence Higgins Trust, the UKs leading HIV and sexual health organisation. He is currently Chair of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust providing acute health care to a population of 200,000 people in South Wiltshire, a Non Executive Director of an NHS Ambulance Trust and Chair of Estuary Housing Association providing housing for 5,000 families in South Essex.

He was diagnosed with HIV in 1996 and is passionate in communicating the liberating reality of U=U to people living with HIV, public officials, clinicians and the general public. As CEO of Terrence Higgins Trust he was responsible for launching the transformational “Can’t Pass it on” campaign. He was recently honoured with an OBE in the King’s New Year’s Honours list for services to charity and public health
