Prevention Access Campaign, USA stands with Black Lives: Statement from PAC’s Board of Directors committing to action and solidarity

“There is a lot to be angry about right now in the United States. For the past three months, we have watched the COVID-19 pandemic wreak havoc across the United States, exposing massive healthcare disparities many of us in the HIV community have fought against for decades. Black and Brown folks are suffering from the disproportionately high number of deaths in their communities. We’ve witnessed the brutal murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and George Floyd which have further exposed the longstanding systemic racism, anti-blackness, and the militarization of the police that continue to rage across white supremacist America. Within a grossly neglectful healthcare system with a long history of racism, paternalism, and many forms of prejudice, more than 400,000 people with HIV, many of whom are Black and Brown, are not virally suppressed.”
