New York State Launches New U=U Campaign

“U=U began in 2016 when a Consensus Statement was drafted by people living with HIV and global experts in public health to address the confusion around undetectable viral load and HIV transmission. Thus was born the Prevention Access Campaign and Undetectable = Untransmittable which has been embraced globally to share its message that people living with HIV with an undetectable viral load do not sexually transmit HIV. The statement has changed the reality of what it means to live with HIV while addressing the societal stigma still overwhelming communities vulnerable to HIV.

Following Summit 2017, the AIDS Institute followed recommendations put forth by Summit participants and engaged with community members from across the state to develop and implement a U=U social marketing campaign that resonates with New Yorkers while staying true to the goals of the Prevention Access Campaign initiative. With the expertise of Better World Advertising, this has been done with the faces and voices of New Yorkers – community members stepping forward.”
